Main activities / discussion
A number of items were covered. The new Older People Champion for Smethwick and Oldbury attended, Edna Barker and she spent time explaining her role and how it impacts on older people in the area. She also explained about the Healthy Passport scheme. Claire Duncan and her colleague Loraine Mahuchi attended as well from Bowel cancer Screening and explained about the new initiative that was being launched in Sandwell. There was a lot of positive discussion about an issue that can be quite sensitive for some. We also discussed elections for Agewell Sandwell and the Later Life Partnership Board. As well as this we discussed the Cape Community Centre health event on the 6th March for which a number of people expressed interest.
Any decisions made
The forum endorsed the six people who had put themselves forward as representatives for Smethwick forum at Agewell Sandwell. There was also an election for the one nominee to represent Smethwick at the Later Life Partnership Board and this person was elected and endorsed by the forum. This person accepted the nomination.
