Meeting held 26 th July 2007

Main activities

The Smethwick Older People's Conference - the theme, venue and date.  A Tai Chi taster session was run.

Discussion around environmental issues in the area.

Decisions made

The consensus was that the conference theme be community cohesion.  A number of the members expressed an interest in learning about the various different cultures that are represented in Smethwick .  Forum members also stated they would like each community to demonstrate something that represented them.  A number of venues were suggested and 20th November 2007 was discussed as a possible date

A number of issues were raised regard Environmental issues in the Smethwick area.  Members felt extremely strongly about this and it was felt Mark Blades (Ground Care Operations Manager, Sandwell MBC) should attend the next meeting).

Feedback from Agewell Sandwell Meeting

Points raised:

A forum member gave feedback about the Sandwell Plan consultation which the forum had previously done.  A forum member also reported the older people champion's posts were being advertised.
