Agewell meets South Korea meets BBC

Agewell meets South Korea meets BBCThe 29th March 2007 was an unusual day in many ways as Agewell, a Sandwell organisation which aims to promote a positive image of mid to later life and challenge age discrimination, was visited by a South Korean filming crew and BBC Radio WM.

MBC Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, who is the 2nd largest broadcasting corporation in South Korea, wanted to produce a TV documentary to talking about how to tackle issues that have arisen from an aging society.
Recently South Korea has experiencing a rapid change of the population group due to the low birth rate and extensions of life expectancy in older people. MBC knew that the UK, France and Germany have addressed this matter very effectively and practically together and recognised Agewell as a prime example of this work in the UK.

MBC filmed a joint Oldbury and Smethwick Local Forum which was attended by Dr Pall regarding Practice Based Commissioning, as well as holding interviews with Older People Champions Bob Tidmarsh, Edna Barker and Agewell Community Development Worker Stuart Munger.

BBC Radio WM also took an interest and an interview was held with the filming crew, Edna and Bob as they appeared live on Ed Doolan’s morning show.
