Mr John Allen MBE, Chair of Agewell and Wednesbury 2000, added “it was really good event and I was overwhelmed by the number of elderly residents who have attended and took part in a unique celebration marking the International Day of the Older Person”. Agewell vice chair Edna Barker, Agewell staff members and Wednesbury Agewell local forum members were also in attendance. Agewell staff members Geraldine Child, Lisa Jacob and Monica David manned the Agewell stand on the day which provided information on Agewell activities. Active Sandwell also had a stall on the day which was manned by Deb Davies.
Delegates took part and raise their concerns in workshops around: Healthy lifestyle, Ageism, Community cohesion, Transport and Better Government for Older People. There were more than 20 organisations that were offering advice guidance and information on the day.
The day came to a close with all delegates receiving gift bags of goodies and taking part in a balloon release to mark the International Day for the Older Person.
