 On the 21 st August 2007 between 11.00am and 2.00pm Agewell in conjunction with Brickhouse Primary School organised a successful intergenerational cricket event.
The aim of the event was to involve both young and old whilst also looking at increased physical activity and healthy living in the Rowley Regis area.
On the day three inflatable cricket games were used. Each of the inflatable's reflected disciplines within the game of cricket; bowling, batting and throwing.These inflatable's are exactly the same one's that have been used at the NatWest Cricket Roadshow and are currently being used successfully as part of Surrey County Cricket Club community programme.
 To support the use of the inflatable's cricket games and to ensure participants were being coached in the disciplines, Old Hill Cricket Club provided two cricket coaches for the day. With the coaches being from a local cricket club this assisted in building a partnership with the school and also so they could discuss with those over 50, the benefits of being involved with the club and how they could assist in developing cricket in the area.
Sandwell Primary Care Trust's Food Health team were also in attendance using the ‘Blenda Venda ' as participants tried various smoothie drinks.
On the day all attendees filled in indemnity forms (under 18's signed by parents/guardians). Evaluations were done on the day on in regard to subjects such as; interest in taking up coaching, interesting in joining there local cricket club (Old Hill CC), what physical benefits they got out of the day, etc.
We are hoping that this event can be a catalyst for intergenerational work and also a different avenue for over 50's getting involved in physical activity.
