The Employers Forum on Age (EFA), the UK's leading authority on age related employment issues, have this week announced that Sandwell’s Agewell is amongst the finalists in its prestigious national awards. In fact Agewell are really taking on the big boys, as their competition in the ‘Innovation’ category for which they have been shortlisted is Coca Cola and British Gas.
Agewell, which is funded by Sandwell Primary Care Trust (PCT) have come out on top again for their innovative ‘Midlife Future Planning Course’ which has been running for two years and been taken by over 250 people.
Stuart Munger of Agewell explained: “The course is aimed at anyone approaching or just over 50, but we will take other ages if people are interested. We look at four different areas primarily, finance, health, leisure and relationships – all very important when planning for retirement or a change in career path.”
Monica David, Midlife Planning Co-ordinator for Agewell, said: “We are really please to have been shortlisted for this award. Stuart and I have been working with employers and employees across the borough. This work has been very successful and rewarding as it has allowed employers to think about retaining and retraining their older workers.”
Stuart and Monica will head to London on February 26th for the awards ceremony.
