Hello! Welcome to the new Agewell website. Agewell has been in existence now for 10 years and is moving forward in its mission to support and enable older people to have a voice in the decisions that affect them: from transport to health, libraries to social care, parks to ‘meals on wheels.’ We believe that older people have the right to be informed, consulted and to have a say on all sorts of issues and we hope that you agree with us.
On this website you will find information about the different things the Agewell members and staff are involved in. The activities are as varied as the people who make up Agewell. In the last few months members have interviewed people attending Outpatient Departments about hospital car parking charges, been asked for their views on community cohesion and have been involved with the Shadow Youth cabinet to encourage cross–generational work. Agewell has been asked by Sandwell Borough Council to contribute to the Select Committee on Older People and also Cultural Services.
Agewell is about promoting a positive image of mid to later life and challenging age discrimination in every walk of life. Some of our members have helped to write and take part in an age awareness training session that they also help deliver.
Opportunities for getting involved are many and varied and I hope you will enjoy the website and want to join us in influencing policy and services. |
