Older People Champions

Who we are

We are the Agewell Older People’s Champions. This means that if you live in Sandwell and are aged 50 and over, we’re here to help you. We are based throughout the Sandwell.

What we do

You may be feeling lonely and need some support in getting out and about. You may want to join a group or try a new activity but don’t know where to start. You may need some support with a health, housing or transport issue, or something else.

Whatever your issues or concerns we can help. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience of activities and services that exist for older people. Why not give us a try?

How we can help

• We offer support and advice and encourage older people to be more active socially and to get involved with their community
• We work with all older people who are residents of Sandwell whatever their needs
• We accept referrals from relatives, friends and neighbours who may be a little anxious about an older person
• We solve problems by putting you in touch with the services and organisations who will be able to help, supporting you throughout the whole process
• We can come to you at home to talk through how we can be of help
• We promote the Healthy Passport Scheme

The Healthy Passport

The Healthy Passport scheme has been tried and tested already in various parts of Sandwell where residents have really enjoyed taking part in local healthy activities and services. Not only have they felt healthier, they’ve had some fun and made new friends into the bargain. The scheme has now been extended to cover the whole of Sandwell for residents aged 50 or over. Each time you take part in an activity or use one of the services described in the Healthy Passport you’ll gain healthy points which can be exchanged for prizes. Contact the Older People Champion in your area if you are interested in having a go.
